Victorian Business Support Fund - Expansion


On 7 July 2020, the Victorian Government announced that Businesses within metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire that are affected by the return to Stay at Home restrictions may be eligible for a one-off $5,000 grant under the Business Support Fund - Expansion program. Applications for the program opened on 13 July 2020 and close on 19 August 2020.

To be eligible for the Fund, businesses must:

  1. operate a business with an address located in metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire subject to the return to Stage 3 ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions;

  2. be a participant in the Commonwealth Government’s JobKeeper Payment scheme;

  3. employ people and be registered with WorkSafe on 30 June 2020;

  4. have an annual payroll of less than $3 million in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis;

  5. be registered for Goods and Services Tax on 30 June 2020;

  6. hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN at 30 June 2020; and

  7. be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator ie ASIC, ACNC, or Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV). In the case of sole traders, ABN registration will suffice.

Owners of businesses that do not employ people (non-employing businesses) are not eligible for funding through this program.

Businesses that have received funding from other components of the Victorian Government’s Economic Survival Package are eligible to apply for this program.
